BAR STREETS

Most notorious are Maoming Nan Lu and Tongren Lu. Maoming Road is in the Former French Concession area, It has a bit of charm – although that’s mostly lost due to somewhat sleazy impression of most of the bars. Also, the government appears to be gradually closing down Maoming Road. On the other hand, Tongren Road was set up in 2004 by the government as an official bar street, in a modern glass walled structure with no charm at all, but bars’ quality is better. Tongren Road has a big expatraite clientele. Taxis-a-plenty late night.
