BAR STREETS

The most notorious bar street in Shanghai is Tongren Road. which replaced Maoming Road in 2004 (when the government re-zoned the latter). Tongren Road is housed in a modern glass walled structure with no charm at all. A few of the bars are decent. But lots of "talking girls" outside, looking to lure customers. Beware of your wallets - these girls demand drinks and some may even be pick-pockets. Tongren Road has a big expatraite clientele. Taxis-a-plenty late night.
